Starting October 14, 2024, Marriott Bonvoy members in the US will experience updates to the points they can earn through Uber, affecting rides, food, and grocery delivery orders. This change is part of an ongoing partnership between Marriott and Uber, which allows Bonvoy members to earn points for Uber services.
Here’s what you need to know about the new earning structure and additional benefits.
Current Point Earning Structure
- 6X Points per dollar spent on Uber Eats restaurant and grocery orders of $40+ delivered to any Marriott hotel.
- 3X Points per dollar spent on UberXL, Uber Comfort, Uber SUV, and Uber Black rides.
- 2X Points per dollar spent on eligible Uber Eats orders, including Marriott restaurants.
New Earning Structure (Effective October 14, 2024)
- 3X Points per dollar on Premium Uber rides (UberXL, Uber Comfort, etc.).
- 2X Points per dollar on UberX Reserve rides.
- 1X Point per dollar for eligible Uber Eats food or grocery deliveries.
- 2X Points per dollar for Uber Eats deliveries made to Residence Inn, TownePlace Suites, and Element Hotels.
Key Changes to Note
- Reduction in Uber Eats Points: Previously, Bonvoy contributors earned 6X points for Uber Eats deliveries to Marriott resorts. This has been substantially decreased to 2X points, and it best applies to orders made at Residence Inn, TownePlace Suites, and Element Hotels. For all different deliveries, participants will now earn simply 1X points in step with dollar spent.
- While the 3X points for premium Uber rides remain unchanged, members can now also earn 2X points on UberX Reserve rides, which was not previously eligible for points.
- Uber One annual subscribers will automatically receive Marriott Bonvoy Silver status, offering additional perks when staying at Marriott hotels, such as priority late check-out and complimentary Wi-Fi.
How to Take Advantage of the Offer
- Link your accounts: Make sure your Uber and Marriott Bonvoy accounts are linked so that points are earned regularly when you redeem Uber offers. Detailed instructions are here.

- Book through the Marriott app: When staying at a Marriott hotel, you can simply book an Uber Reserve ride through the Marriott app to maximize your points.
Implications of the Changes
This replacement reduces the Bonvoy points earned on Uber Eats deliveries, especially whilst staying at Marriott accommodations. However, participants can maintain to earn solid rewards on premium Uber rides and now have new possibilities to earn factors on UberX Reserve rides. Additionally, Uber One contributors receiving Marriott Silver’s status affords extra value for frequent Uber users.
