Second Singapore review.
I’ve always stayed at the Singapore Intercontinental, but this time, it was fully booked, and whilst, as RA, you can force open a room, I tend not to do this as someone else loses out.
I found a room at the InterContinental Singapore Robertson Quay, but it was £500+ for a room, and there were points stays available at 68000, so this was a no-brainer for me.
It’s a very small boutique-style hotel, has a club lounge, and is very new and contemporary in feel. It’s not completely obvious when you arrive where to go, but you have to take a lift up to reception and then a different lift up to your room.
The check-in was flawless, and I was given a nice room upgrade to a corner room. The rooms here are small but incredibly well laid out, and the use of space here is remarkable, as I hope you can see from the pictures I’ve added.
One of the amazing features here is the club lounge, which is very well managed. You get wonderful service, and everything is brought to you. There is a buffet-style area where you can help yourself, too.
Breakfast, afternoon team, and evening drinks and canapes are all very well run, and I chatted with one of the young team members, who really did enjoy working there. When I was leaving the next day, as I left the club lounge, she came running after me. I thought I’d left something behind, but she gave me some different blends of tea to take home with me.
I mentioned that when I was in Singapore 6 weeks previously, I’d taken my wife to Chinatown to buy some tea, and this small but very kind gesture was one of the reasons I’ve stayed with IHG for over 15 years.
I did have lunch while I was there and was introduced to the GM at the hotel, who was very charming and engaging. The food was very good, and I would recommend eating there. I think there are 6 restaurants to choose from.
The only issue now is which intercontinental to choose in the future when I stay here!
