I stayed at the InterContinental Ras Al Khaimah Resort & Spa for 5 nights in May, and it was one of the best stays in the Middle East region I’ve had. It’s about an hour’s drive from Dubai, and it’s a developing area, so not as densely populated as the Dubai area, but this is very welcome.
It’s very well laid out, and I had an amazing suite looking out over the Arabian Gulf with clear blue water and a nice, secluded balcony.
The resort is less than 2 years old and very well kept, with nice areas all around the resort for relaxing, eating, or generally enjoying the surroundings.
There are several restaurants onsite, and both my wife and I really enjoyed Saffar as it’s a relaxed atmosphere. The staff was very attentive, and after the first visit, they remembered us and were very polite and courteous.
We also had access to the club lounge, which has evening drinks and canapés and met the chef, who always came out to meet us each night to ensure the food was suitable. The club lounge staff were simply brilliant, and nothing was too much trouble for them. They were always greeted with a friendly smile and a welcome. Paying attention to guests and ensuring we had everything you needed at every moment, and some really stand out, Jessica and Moses in particular. Moses welcomed us on the first day, and we chatted every day as he made an effort to come and say hello. We spoke about Uganda, and I shared some pictures with him of Jinja from my days working there. Jessica has been so very helpful throughout, and nothing was too much trouble. Jessica has made our dinner reservations and always enquired how the stay is going. She greeted us with a lovey smile and was very polite and professional. We always had breakfast in the club lounge, and the selection was very good. There was always a special available.
The real advantage of the club lounge pool area, which is reserved for club guests and is wonderfully quiet and away from the main resort, is that it is very tranquil.
The suite we were upgraded to was very spacious, with two bathrooms and a walk-in wardrobe. The main bathroom had a huge bath and a double shower. It is one of the biggest bathrooms I’ve seen in an IHG property. There was also a secluded balcony to sit and relax. In addition, a large lounge area with a big sofa to laze around if you feel the need.
Whilst at the resort, I had the pleasure of meeting both the director of food and beverage and the Resort manager, who came to chat with me personally, which was very welcome. I’ve since been in touch about staying again, as I enjoyed the stay so much.
My impression of the stay
I can wholeheartedly recommend a stay here if you are looking for a very relaxing time with great food, attentive staff, and a beautiful resort. Away from the busyness of Dubai itself, I really enjoyed my time staying there.
