A last-minute stay at the Kimpton De Witt in Amsterdam for New Year’s Eve and what an outstanding say this was. On arrival at the hotel, we were greeted by a wonderful staff member called Licia who was simply amazing throughout the whole stay we saw her several times and thanked her for the amazing service.
I have stayed here quite a few times but on this occasion, we were given one of the best upgrades I have ever received at a Kimpton hotel.
The upgrade was to what is called the “The Little House” Now there is nothing little about this as it’s an apartment that has an apartment within an apartment. You have a main living area as you enter with a communal area and kitchen with high stools and table then up one flight of stairs is a separate 2-bed apartment with a walk-in wardrobe and then a tole and shower room. This is totally separate and has its own entrance on the first landing. You then go up to the master bedroom on the next floor and this is a vaulted ceiling with beams and very traditional in Amsterdam. It’s a beautiful apartment and was sorry that we only had two days to enjoy the place.
The whole feel about this hotel is boutique and the staff have a laid-back feel but don’t be fooled as the attention to detail is definitely there and it’s a very well-run hotel.
Your glass will not run dry during the wine hour held at the back of the reception area. Even the breakfast, whilst being incredibly busy you don’t wait long to be seated.
Some cheeky customers thought they didn’t have to wait and tried to seat themselves. Not this time as the restaurant is really well managed.
I didn’t get the chef’s taster this time (previously had some amazing burrata and asparagus) or the raid the bar voucher but with such an amazing upgrade I was not going to complain about this small detail.
