Welcome Bonus and Statement Credit Offers for IHG Premier Card by Chase
IHG is running a 90-day promotional offer on the IHG One Rewards Premier Credit Card. New card members can receive 140,000 bonus points after spending $3,000 on the card within the first three months. The offer includes up to a $100 statement credit to reimburse spending at all IHG properties for the first 12 months of using the card.
It’s quite the sum of bonus points, but IHG points are among the least valuable compared to other hotel loyalty programs. Each point is valued at 0.5 cents per point, giving this offer a value of $700 + $100 in statement credit for an $800 total value. The previous offer on the card was the biggest IHG welcome bonus ever at 175,000 bonus points. However, this didn’t include an extra segment credit, so the total value of the welcome offer isn’t much different if you missed out on the largest offer (previous $875 total value).
The card has an annual fee of $99, so the statement credit alone is enough to cover the cost of having it. And plenty of other travel perks make it a great hotel credit card to keep in your wallet.
IHG Premier Card Review: More Value with IHG Stays
As with all co-branded hotel credit cards, cardholders get the most value when used for stays and rewards at IHG Hotels and Resorts. IHG One Rewards Premier Credit Card is no exception. There are tons of ways to earn and redeem points to make it worthwhile to use even after getting the welcome bonus.
Earn Points
The 140,000 bonus offer is a great way to jumpstart the points in your account. Point multipliers and card bonuses let cardholders earn even more points on qualified spending.
- Cardholders get complimentary Platinum Elite Status to earn up to 26x points per $1 spent at IHG Hotels and Resorts ( 10X Points: For each $1 spent at hotels participating in IHG One Rewards + up to 10X points from IHG for being an IHG One Rewards Member + up to 6X points from IHG with Platinum Elite Status, a benefit of this card)
- Get 5x points per $1 spent on travel, gas stations, and dining

Using the card to meet the minimum spending requirement of $3,000 in the first three months can earn a minimum of 248,000 points ($3,000 x 3x points = 9,000 points + 140,000 bonus = 149,000 total points). Or upwards of 218,000 points if spending in the highest point earning category (3,000 x 26x points = 78,000 points + 140,000 bonus = 218,000 total points).
To get the 26x points, you must be a cardholder, an IHG One Rewards Member, and an additional points bonus for having Platinum Elite Status (included with the card).
Platinum Elite Status
Cardholders are granted automatic IHG One Rewards Platinum Elite status as long as they remain Premier card members, and their accounts are in good standing. This status often includes benefits like room upgrades, late checkout, and bonus earnings on stays.
Diamond Elite Status
Purchases totaling $40,000 or more in a calendar year qualify the primary card member for Diamond Elite Status through the end of the following year, offering additional privileges and benefits.
Redeeming Points
IHG points are worth 0.5 cents, so accumulating a large amount doesn’t give as much value as having the equivalent points in Marriott Bonvoy (0.7 cpp) or World of Hyatt (1.5 cpp), for example. The IHG One Rewards Premier Credit Card has several benefits that make its points even more valuable when redeemed strategically.
