Earning AA Loyalty Points for Upgrading Seats to Premium Class for Cash
How many of you recall that you recently obtained complimentary upgrades, earning Platinum elite status or above?
For the most part, therefore, this update is pertinent.
American Airlines AAdvantage members will begin receiving miles based on the service class they upgrade to, as well as Loyalty Points for money paid during various upgrading processes, effective August 12, 2024.
Earn 5 miles/Loyalty Points per dollar spent (or more with status, see below).
What Changes Are Still Ahead

In 2024, you’ll be able to redeem miles for upgrades with more partner airlines.
Now you can redeem miles for cabin upgrades: Qantas, British Airways, and Iberia.

Order an upgrade online.
- Redeem miles for Flagship First Dining passes.
Ability to redeem miles for Flagship First Dining passes after reaching AAdvantage Platinum Pro status.
