American Airlines AAdvantage program and World of Hyatt have announced updates to their loyalty partnership, offering new opportunities for members to earn and redeem points across both programs starting in 2025. These changes aim to enhance the travel experience with more options and flexibility for rewards, status upgrades, and redemptions.
Expanded Partnership: Key Changes
From January 2025, AAdvantage members and World of Hyatt members can enjoy expanded benefits through linked accounts. Here’s a breakdown of what to expect:
For AAdvantage Members:

Status for a Day
For a limited number of Hyatt points, members can enjoy AAdvantage Gold, Platinum, or Platinum Pro status for a day, giving access to premium benefits like priority check-in, mileage bonuses, and complimentary upgrades.
- AAdvantage Gold Status for a Day: For 5,000 World of Hyatt points, Explorists or Globalists can take advantage of a 40% mileage bonus, priority check-in, one free checked bag, complimentary upgrades when they are available, and more.

End of Linked Mileage and Point-Earning
However, starting December 31, 2024, the ability for linked members to simultaneously earn AAdvantage miles and World of Hyatt points will end. Members can still transfer Hyatt points to AAdvantage miles and access other offers, but dual-earning will no longer be available.
Conclusion
This update to the loyalty relationship between American Airlines and Hyatt offers travelers more control and options for maximizing their points and status across both ecosystems. These new rewards will allow members to customize their benefits, making their travel experience more personalized and rewarding.
