Update (October 23, 2025): Blue Sky has moved from announcement to action — TrueBlue and MileagePlus members can now earn and redeem across both airlines. Details, pricing examples, and limitations are in our new post → JetBlue × United “Blue Sky” Is Live: How To Earn & Redeem Across Both Airlines
JetBlue Airways and United Airlines have announced a new partnership called “Blue Sky”, as reported in an official press release on May 29, 2025. Blue Sky is designed to expand travel options and loyalty benefits for customers of both airlines. This partnership will allow members of United’s MileagePlus and JetBlue’s TrueBlue programs to earn and use their miles and points on each other’s networks. This will provide even more flight options and expanded benefits, enhancing the travel experience for passengers of both airlines.

Key Features of the Blue Sky Partnership

- Shared Earning and Redemption (Now available)
- MileagePlus members can earn and redeem miles on JetBlue flights, including routes to destinations like the Caribbean, with frequent flights from the Northeast.
- TrueBlue members can now use their points for flights on United’s extensive domestic and international network, including long-haul destinations like Cape Town and Tahiti.
- MileagePlus members can earn and redeem miles on JetBlue flights, including routes to destinations like the Caribbean, with frequent flights from the Northeast.
- Booking Made Easier (Now available)
- Both airlines will offer flights from the other on their websites and apps, making it easier for travelers to book flights across both networks. This went live on February 10, 2026 — but note it’s still a separate, single-airline purchase either way: a single ticket combining a JetBlue leg and a United leg in one connected itinerary with through-checked baggage isn’t available yet.
- This collaboration will operate under an interline agreement, not a codeshare, meaning that flights will still be marketed and sold under each airline’s brand.

Expanding Airport and Flight Opportunities
- New Flight Options
- JetBlue will provide United access to slots at JFK Airport for up to seven daily round-trip flights starting in 2027, while United and JetBlue will exchange flight timings at Newark Liberty International Airport.

- Paisly Platform Integration
- United will move its travel services, such as hotel and car bookings, to JetBlue’s travel platform — rebranded from Paisly to TrueBlue Travel in 2025 — streamlining the booking process for customers.
“This collaboration with United is a bold step forward for the industry — one that brings together two customer-focused airlines to deliver more choices for travelers and value across our networks,” said Joanna Geraghty, CEO of JetBlue. “United’s global reach perfectly complements JetBlue’s East Coast leisure network, and significantly expands the options and benefits for TrueBlue members, no matter where in the world they are traveling. This is a clear win for our customers and crewmembers, and supports our JetForward strategy.”
Implementation Timeline
Blue Sky rolled out in three stages, on roughly the timeline JetBlue and United originally laid out: shared earning and redemption launched in October 2025; cross-airline cash bookings on either airline’s website or app went live on February 10, 2026; and reciprocal elite benefits (priority boarding, extra-legroom seating, a free checked bag, same-day standby) switched on for both programs’ members on May 14, 2026. All three phases are live today (see our full rundown of the reciprocal perks). Still pending: a single connected interline ticket that combines a JetBlue and a United flight — with through-checked baggage — in one booking. Both airlines have said this is coming, but as of now, each purchase still covers one carrier’s flights at a time, even when bought through the other airline’s site.
Conclusion
The Blue Sky collaboration between JetBlue and United Airlines aims to provide travelers with more flight options, enhanced loyalty benefits, and a more streamlined booking experience. By integrating their loyalty programs and sharing resources, both airlines seek to offer greater value to their customers while maintaining independent operations.
Members of both programs can combine points with family and friends, making it even easier to earn and redeem points for award tickets.
Another perk is free high-speed Wi-Fi provided by Starlink, which will be available on select United flights for members of both loyalty programs.
